A trip
I found out this past Thursday, officially, that I will be fortunate enough to be a support person on a Penn State sponsored study abroad trip over this coming Spring break. I will be going to Poland, specifically to the Warsaw and Krakow areas, on a tour of several significant Holocaust sites. The trip is sponsored by the Jewish Studies Department at Penn State, and I am so grateful to be going. I have never been to a primary Holocaust site, only museums and exhibits. This will also be my first time in Europe, so I am humbled to be part of such a life changing experience. We will be visiting the following:
Warsaw Ghetto location
The town of Lublin
Memorials at the Majdanek and Belzec camps
Ending in Krakow
We will be visiting a combination of memorials, exhibitions, cemeteries, museum and related. We will be meeting with local experts as well as being led by two holocaust scholars from Penn State. I will be posting here will updates and observations of the places we visit. I am so honored.
The trip is March 5th to the 12th. Please following my social media for respectful updates. @the_sociology_making_magic on Instagram and @KristinNewvine on Twitter.
The start of something magical…
Well I finally did it. I started a website! I am super excited about what I am finally able to showcase using such a platform. I plan to use this Blog section to share updates on my current research project entitled, Princesses, Princessing, and Living History: The Sociology of Making Magic. I also plan to share my thoughts and experiences in graduate school, as well as general life events. I will also have a “review” to post of each museum and exhibition I am lucky enough to visit, maybe even some backlogged experiences. Thank you so much for showing interest in my life and have a magical day!
